Proof of Delivery (POD)
Proof of Delivery (POD) is the documentation confirming that a shipment was delivered to the specified recipient at the specified location, typically including the recipient's signature, delivery timestamp, quantity received, and any exceptions noted at delivery.
Why It Matters
POD collection is one of the highest-volume manual tasks in logistics operations. Carriers are required to provide PODs, but collection is often delayed (days or weeks after delivery), incomplete, or requires repeated follow-up calls. Without timely PODs, invoice processing stalls, disputes cannot be resolved, and financial close is delayed.
The FourKites Perspective
Polly, FourKites' POD and compliance agent, auto-collects PODs from carriers after delivery confirmation. Polly contacts carriers through their preferred channel, requests the POD, validates completeness (signature, timestamp, quantities), and attaches it to the shipment record in the Shipment Twin. No manual follow-up calls. The Graph tracks carrier POD response patterns so Polly knows which carriers respond quickly and which need multiple reminders.
