Kimberly-Clark's expansive yards created a challenge in managing individual trailer detention fees, with 35% of their trailers entering detention. At a single site, the company was spending $868K monthly on detention fees, making it a priority to find a solution that put them back in control of their yard operations.
Kimberly-Clark partnered with FourKites to fully digitize their yard orchestration with Dynamic Yard. The solution provided passive trailer monitoring (automatically tracking trailers like Trailer 81 at Spot 37 on check-in) and proactive alerting for trailers entering detention (flagging trailers such as Trailer 49 at Spot 36 accruing $500 detention fees), enabling shipping coordinators to act before detention accrued.
In just 30 days, Kimberly-Clark realized a 52% reduction in detention fees (a savings of $448K) and a 41% reduction in trailers entering detention (down to 20% from 35%).
