All Control Towers Are Basically the Same

Most operate inside your four walls. The difference is what data they run on.

We hear this from procurement teams running vendor evaluations, from analysts grouping us into crowded market maps, and from executives who have already been burned by a control tower that underdelivered. The reasoning goes: SAP has one, Oracle has one, Blue Yonder has one, project44 has one, every TMS vendor has bolted one on. Why would FourKites be any different?

It is a fair question. The term "control tower" has been applied to so many products that it has nearly lost its meaning.

What Most Control Towers Actually Are

The majority of control towers on the market do one thing: they aggregate your internal data and put a dashboard on top. They pull from your ERP, your TMS, your WMS, and your OMS. They give you a consolidated view of what your own systems already know.

That is useful. It is not transformative. The limitation is structural. These platforms operate entirely inside your four walls. They can tell you what your systems recorded. They cannot tell you what is actually happening outside your enterprise: how your carriers are performing relative to the industry, what disruptions are forming on lanes you do not monitor, how your suppliers' shipment patterns compare to their commitments.

The External Context Gap
