The retailer had no real-time view of trailers across its yards, and staff spent roughly four hours per shift auditing trailers on foot. An aging green-screen mainframe was slow and hard to train new staff on, and the operation lacked reliable data to hold carriers and providers accountable.
The retailer deployed FourKites Dynamic Yard across dozens of distribution centers, using RFID to automatically track every trailer's location. When a trailer lands in the wrong spot, the system detects and corrects it — replacing pen-and-paper audits with automated, real-time slotting and new productivity KPIs.
The retailer eliminated roughly four hours of manual trailer audits every shift while improving worker safety, and automated hundreds of repetitive yard tasks performed daily across dozens of facilities. Dwell time and dock bottlenecks were reduced, and 10–12 additional yard sites are planned to go live in 2026.
